Hanno Haag
Hanno Haag wurde 1939 in St. Ingbert im Saarland geboren. Er
studierte an der Musikhochschule des Saarlandes Schulmusik
mit Hauptfach Violine und an der Universität
Saarbrücken Geschichte. Nach dem Staatsexamen setzte er
sein Violinstudium bei Denes Zsigmondy und Max Rostal fort.
In den Jahren 1964/65 war er Konzertmeister des
Kurpfälzischen Kammerorchesters Mannheim, ab 1965 war er im
Nationaltheaterorchester Mannheim tätig. Von 1976 bis 1998
hatte er die Position eines Fachgruppenleiters an der Städtischen
Musikschule Mannheim inne. Darüber hinaus leitete er die
Musikschule für Erwachsene an der Mannheimer Abendakademie.
Als "Mannheimer Kammerduo" gab er mit der Pianistin
Anneliese Schlicker mehr als 1300 Konzerte in fast allen
europäischen Ländern, Nordamerika und Australien. Als
Dirigent leitet er die Capella Palatina, das
Jugendsinfonieorchester Mannheim und das Kammerorchester
der Mannheimer Abendakademie.
Haags kompositorisches Schaffen umfaßt rund 70 Werke,
darunter zwei Opern,Orchesterwerke, Solokonzerte,
Kammermusikwerke für Streicher und Bläser sowie Lieder.
Er erhielt verschiedene Kompositionspreise, u.a. in
Rodepoort/Südafrika (1989) für den Orchesterzyklus
"Nachtfahrt" und den 1991 erstmals vergebenen Preis
der Mozartgesellschaft für das Streichtrio "Je me souviens".
1995 wurde er mit dem Johann-Wenzel-Stamitz-Preis
ausgezeichnet.
Born in St. Ingbert (Saarland) in 1939, Haag studied music
education and violin at the Music Academy of the Saarland,
as well as history at the University of Saarbrücken. After
passing the state examination, he continued his violin
studies with Denes Zsigmondy and Max Rostal.
In 1964/65 he held the position of concertmaster of the
Chamber Orchestra of the Palatine in Mannheim, and as of
1965, played in the orchestra of Mannheim's National
Theater. From 1976 until 1998 he had headed a department at
Mannheim's Municipal Music School in addition to the music
department at the Mannheim Adult Evening Education Academy.
Appearing together with the pianist Anneliese Schlicker as
the "Mannheim Chamber Duo" he has given more than 1300
concerts in almost all the countries of Europe, in North
America, and in Autralia. As conductor, he directs the
Capella Palatina, the Mannheim Youth Symphony Orchestra,
and the Chamber Orchstra of the Mannheim Adult Evening
Education Academy.
As a composer, Haag has a total of 70 works to
his credit, including two operas, orchestral works, concertos, chamber
music for string and wind instruments, and songs. His
compositions have won a number of prizes; for instance, in
1989 in Rodepoort (South Africa) for the orchestra cycle
"Nachtfahrt" (Night Ride); in 1991 he was the first
recipient of the Mozart Society Prize for his string trio
"Je me souviens" ("I recall"). In 1995 he received
the Johann-Wenzel-Stamitz-Price.
