Louis Bloom

Geboren 1931 in Los Angeles. Musik-Studium, Hauptfach Komposition, 1949-1953 an der University of California at Los Angeles, zuletzt bei Lukas Foss; 1955-1958 an der Hochschule für Musik in Wien bei Alfred Uhl; 1958-1961 Musikwissenschaft bei Thrasybulos Georgiades an der Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität in München. Seit 1958 wohnhaft in München; seit 1962 tätig als freischaffender Komponist, Arrangeur und Pianist im Bereich Theater- und Kammermusik, wie auch beim Rundfunk, Fernsehen und Film.Neben Klaviermusik, Liedern und Kabarett-Songs entstanden Songs und Ballettmusik für mehrere Bühnenmusicals.Uraufgeführt in München durch das "Modern Life Quartett" wurde 1992 "Beschwörung der Geister im Dschungel des Geistes" und 1993 "Kapriolen und Exkursionen" beide für Flöte, Klavier, Bass und Percussion.

Born in 1931 in Los Angeles. Attended the University of California at Los Angeles from 1949 to 1953, including courses with Lukas Foss. Further studies of composition with Alfred Uhl at the Music Academy of Vienna, Austria (1955-1958) and musicology with Thrasybulos Georgiades at the University of Munich, Germany (1958-1961). Has resided in Munich since 1958, working professionally there as free-lance composer, arranger and pianist since 1962 at theaters and for radio, television and film. Compositions include piano, vocal and chamber music, as well as songs and dance music for stage musicals. Two works for flute, piano, bass, and percussion were introduced in Munich at concerts by the "modern life quartet": Evocation of the Spirits in the Jungle of the Mind (1992) and Caprioles and Vagaries (1993).
