Stephan Ametsbichler
Stephan Ametsbichler, 1961 in Glonn (Oberbayern) geboren, studierte Musikwissenschaft an der Universität München und Klarinette im Privatstudium bei Horst Schwantner (Bayerisches Staatsorchester München).
Staatlich anerkannter Dirigent von Blasorchestern im Laienmusizieren. Von 1985 bis 1996 Leiter der Musikkapelle Glonn, seit 1993 auch der Stadtkapelle Rosenheim. Mitwirkender und stellvertretender Leiter des Akademischen Blasorchesters München sowie einer Reihe von Kammermusikensembles, daneben vereinzelt solistische Auftritte. 1989 - 1996 stellvertretender Bundesdirigent, seit 1996 Bundesdirigent im Musikbund von Ober- und Niederbayern, seit 1997 Landesdirigent des Bayerischen Musikbundes. In diesen Ämtern neben der Entwicklung von Konzepten zur musikalischen Verbandsarbeit u.a. auch mit der Organisation und Durchführung von Lehrgängen beauftragt. Dozent für Holzbläserbetreuung und Dirigent bei internationalen Lehrgängen für Sinfonische Blasmusik.
Darüberhinaus als Arrangeur für Bläsermusik und sinfonische Blasmusik tätig. Mitglied mehrerer internationaler Blasmusikvereinigungen (IGEB, WASBE). Seit Herbst 1996 als freier Mitarbeiter und Moderator beim Bayerischen Rundfunk in München engagiert.
Stephan Ametsbichler was born in 1961 in Glonn, Upper Bavaria. He studied musicology at the University of Munich, and clarinet as a private pupil of Horst Schwantner, member of the Bavarian State Opera Orchestra in Munich.
He passed the state examination as bandmaster for amateur musicians. From 1985 to 1996 he was the leader of the local band in Glonn and since 1993 he has been conducting the municipal band at Rosenheim. He is a member and associate director of the Academic Symphonic Band in Munich, participates in various wind ensembles and sometimes appears as a soloist. In 1989 Ametsbichler became assistant conductor, and in 1996, head conductor of the Music Association of Upper and Lower Bavaria, in 1997 head conductor of the Bavarian Music Association. His task being the development of programmes for the association's practical work and the organization and the carrying out of courses. In addition he teaches courses for advanced woodwind players, and conducts symphonic bands at international meetings.
As an arranger, he specializes in music for wind instruments and symphonic bands. He is member of the international wind music organizations IGEB and WASBE. In autumn 1996 he became freelance presenter at the Bavarian Broadcasting Corporation.
