Hubert Meixner
Hubert Meixner wurde 1958 in Bruckmühl bei Rosenheim (Bayern) geboren. Er studierte Kirchenmusik am Richard-Strauss-Konservatorium in München. Neben seiner Täigkeit als Musiker, Komponist und Musiklehrer arbeitet er als freier Mitarbeiter für das Volksmusikarchiv und die Volksmusikpflege des Bezirkes Oberbayern. Dort beschäftigt er sich gezielt und ausgiebig mit historischer Blas- und Bläsermusik,wobei ihm das Interesse für alle Formen der Blasmusik, von bodenständigen, überlieferten Formen bis hin zu symphonischen Werken zugute kommt.
Über die Jahre hinweg erweiterte Meixner kontinuierlich sein musikalisches Betätigungsfeld. Diverse Erfahrungen bei der Teilnahme an Kursen in Komposition und Arrangement bei Arne Melnäs, Kore Kolberg, Jacob de Haan und Jan van de Roost
sowie bei seiner Tätigkeit als Pianist im "Swing & More" Jazz-Trio ließ er unmittelbar in seine Kompositionen einfließen.
Meixners besondere Vorliebe gilt seit langem der Kammermusik für Blechbläser und seit kurzem auch der Musik für sinfonisches Blasorchester. Als Posaunist und Leiter eines Blechbläserquintetts komponiert und arrangiert er praxisgerecht stilistisch unterschiedliche Werke aus Barock und Klassik (Dvorák, Largo aus der 9. Symphonie / Beethoven, Ode an die Freude / Byrd, Earl of Oxford's March u.a.m.) sowie aus den den Bereichen Swing, Pop, Rock und Filmmusik (Turpin, Harlem Rag / Jarre, Schiwago-Melodie / Brass Boogie / Showtime etc.) für verschiedene Blechbläserbesetzungen und für sinfonisches Blasorchester (Fantasy Movie, Highway).
Born in Bruckmühl near Rosenheim (Bavaria) in 1958, Meixner studied in Munich at the Richard Strauss Conservatory, where he majored in church music. In addition to his activities as musician, composer and music teacher, he works as free-lance consultant on the advisory board for folk music for the district of Upper Bavaria. In that position he deals specifically and extensively with historical music for woodwind and brass instruments, whereby his interest in all forms of wind music - from traditional grass-root forms all the way to symphonic works - stands him in good stead.
Over the years Meixner continuosly extended his field of musical activity. His compositions have been deeply influenced by the diverse experiences he had attending courses in composition and arrangement with Arne Melnäs, Kore Kolberg, Jacob de Haan, and Jan van de Roost and playing the piano part in the jazz trio "Swing & More".
Meixner has always had a special liking for chamber music for brass ensembles and recently for music for symphonic band. He plays the trombone himself and leads a brass quintet. As composer and arranger, he has made practical and effenctive adaptations for various brass groupings of stilistically diverse works from the realm of the classics to popular music. They include Dvorák's Largo from the 9th Symphony, Beethoven's "Ode to Joy," Byrd's "Earl of Oxford's March" as well as Turpin's "Harlem Rag," Jarre's "Lara's Theme," and Meixner's own compositions for brass ensemble, "Brass Boogie", "Showtime" etc., and for symphonic band, "Fantasy Movie", "Highway".
